BLESSED
LOT
The students of Nagamani Srinath under her direction
at Jagan mohan Palace presented a musical feature on
`Haridasas`. After witnessing the flawless performance
in front of a capacity audience I could not help wonder
as to how lucky these artistes were to have a teacher
and mentor like Nagamani Srinath. She not only teaches
with utmost dedication but also promotes all upcoming
young artistes in her own unique way. Her students are
truly a “Blessed lot”.

UNIQUE
ARTISTE!!
Nagamani sings like a nightingale. What a voice! What
a range! What melody! What pliability! She is a grammarian
and never deviates from the well-established norms.

INTOXICATING
ART
Nagamani’s music was intoxicating both for its
melody and colorful content. Brika and bhava seldom
go together but Nagamani proved that she could make
an expressive blend of them. A happy combination of
virtues contributed to the success of the program and
this covered a strikingly sweet voice with inherent
emotional appeal, brika movement of extraordinary precision
and natural felicity and intelligence to exploit in
fusion with an aesthetically rich style of gamaka graces
and a command of laya that gave top class stature to
her vidwat.

Nagamani’s individuality was on full view when
she delineated a ticklish Manirangu raga for rangam
tanam pallavi. With her well-cultivated voice, she invested
this mode with innumerable nuances, twists, turns and
musical somersaults by way of embellishment.
Nagamani deserved praise for her handling of the pallavi.
Her mastery over laya was impeccable.

NAGAMANI
SRINATH IMPRESSES
A rich and melodious voice and a penetrating insight
into the classical idiom and meaningful planning of
the concert were the plus points of Nagamani Srinath’s
concert at Lalbagh glass house.
Nagamani had never a dull moment throughout her concert.
Nagamani has the gift of upholding the melodic phrase
caressingly. This was evident in the rolling patterns
of her madhyamavati raga in the interpretation of Rama
katha sudha rasa with contemplative intensity.

Dancing as inseparable partners throughout the performance
given by Nagamani Srinath of Mysore for the Vivek Cultural
Centre , Alwarpet the beauty and bhava she created in
her music gripped and enchanted the rasika so completely
that all sense of time was forgotten. The cries for
`Mayamma` and `Govardhanagiridhari` from some sections
of the audience unmindful of the fact that the concert
had arrived at its closing time proved the popularity
this artiste has gained in such a short time. She bagged
the best musician award from the Madras Music Academy
on three consecutive years.
Nagamani revealed in her performance that she has the

KARNATAKA
ARTISTES SCORE IN MADRAS
December dawns in Madras and there is an aura of music
pervading all over with a dozen organizations simultaneously
conducting their art festivals.
This year the contingent from Karnataka made more than
an appreciable impact over the large audiences that
had turned up. And the pride of place goes to Mrs. Nagamani
Srinath. Her concert at the Viveka cultural center was
a veritable feast. Her cadence concern for the transmutation
of art into life allured the privileged listeners. Singing
with delicate sensitivity and an extraordinarily subtle
poise she carried the entire audience with her. Her
performance was truly classic with unallayed delight.
